The University of Ostrava invites you to the OUpener – the official start of the academic year, including the matriculation of first-year students. The event takes place on Wednesday, 24 September at the modern UO City Campus. The programme begins at 2:30 PM with the matriculation ceremony for first-year bachelor’s and master’s students. Freshers are kindly requested to register for matriculation via this link.

Important information for first-year students of bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. The Rector’s leave on this day is just for you, so you don’t have to worry about missing classes due to matriculation!

So don’t forget to mark 24 September in your calendars! OUpener is happening once again at the City Campus. This event is the official start of university life for everyone, and it is a great opportunity to meet the university’s administrative staff and your future classmates.

Already studying at the University of Ostrava? Don’t worry, this day is for you too! Come meet old friends, support the freshers, and enjoy the programme. It is best to get to know your classmates right away – so make sure you wear something or carry an interesting accessory in the color of your faculty.

Limity, D.U.Bmusic or a live show by DJ Dr. Zeppelin

Of course, a packed line-up won’t be missing! You can look forward to the bands Limity and D.U.Bmusic, as well as DJ Roxtar. As part of a special live show, popular DJ Dr. Zeppelin will be joined by saxophonist Radim Nowak and singer Tereza.

At the OU City Campus, the Festival of Children’s and Students’ Multimedia Creations Trikfilm will also take place starting on Wednesday, September 24. During OUpener, you can drop by, for example, for a screening of student animated films. Between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., you’ll be able to buy artworks from students of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Art Market, and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., workshops for aspiring animators will be open.

At OUpener, you will also discover that your time at university is about more than studying – it’s about unique experiences, new friendships, and practical skills. And who will help you with that? Starting university is connected not only with new responsibilities but also with exciting opportunities. At OUpener, university staff and experienced classmates will be ready to answer any questions.

The Centre for International Cooperation will provide information about opportunities and conditions for studying abroad. The OUshop stand will offer university merchandise, and the University Library will present its wide range of services – far beyond book lending. The Counseling and Career Centre and the Pyramida Centre, which supports students with specific needs, will also be available to share guidance.

Plenty of good food and drinks will be available as well, with partner restaurants and bistros offering their specialties.
